September 12, 2013A gait plate is a type of foot orthotic that has steep angle at the front end to try and change the angle that the shoe bends at. The purpose of the gait plate is to change the angle of gait to correct a toe-in or toe-out pattern of walking, especially in children. The evidence is that they do not work very well at doing this and a lot may depend on the actual cause of the angle of gait being in ore out more than the normal range.
